taper purgatory

race week, bearing down…

Another easy run, an 8 miler this mild afternoon in the parkway on the way to Delaware Park where I got most of this winter/spring’s training in.  Nothing special, felt good most of the way, with some of the mental gremlins creeping in at moments – feeling a momentary loss of coordination for a few strides; calves and quads feeling tight at another juncture, wondering about fitness for a step…you know what I talking about, you marathoners.  This is the terrible purgatory between intense training and race day.  Taking it day by day, stride by stride…we’ll get there.
