Because of the foot injury, hadn’t done many runs over 9 miles the past 6 months, and maybe a couple of runs of 12 miles or longer. With a couple of half marathons coming up in the next month and with the foot improving, tried out a longish run of 12 miles this afternoon. Had intended on 10 to 12 with a few miles of pick up; the body and the run felt good enough to go 12, with 4 middle miles of about 6:45/mile pace.
Will take it easy tomorrow and try to add some more long runs the next couple of weeks, but will be watchful of ‘too much too soon.’ Might even skip Saturday’s 5k and focus on distance and tempo running over the weekend. Today was really encouraging, running on trails and roads, the left foot felt solid.
