running and talking

goal race: Buffalo Marathon 5/29

wednesday

A solid 14 miler in the park and back on a cool but warming day.  Had intended on 12 miles, but ran into a runner I know, Chris, in the park.  He’s an elite runner and a top racer in upstate NY, hadn’t seen him out in races in a while.  We ran some loops in and around the park while discussing work-life-running balance.  He’d been busy juggling full time work and family life with twin 5 year old’s, as well as trying to stay in racing shape – who says Millennials aren’t ambitious, driven?  Talked about trying to compete while having a family and a career.  Talked about the difficulty I faced at his age, and how competing at the masters level is great – after the kids are grown up and more independent.  It was a great conversation, and before I knew it, I had gone further than intended and was time to head back home.
