goal race: Buffalo Marathon 5/29
Easy paced but not an easy 12 miler in the park, through a gauntlet of ice, cold, snow, and wind. We got a nasty ice storm last night which covered the area with a sheet of ice, which was then topped with this morning’s snow. Salts had melted much of the ice by the time I went out, but it was still treacherous in sections. Westerly wind gusts compounded it.
Legs were sore after yesterday’s double but hung in there for an evenly paced run through the gauntlet. They even began to loosen up a bit the last couple of miles while I channeled Dick Beardsley’s fortitude.
