12 miles this morning (4 mile warm up + 8 miles with my son). The right ankle just above the foot was still tender and took a couple of miles to loosen up. Didn’t feel great but hate to miss a run with my son, so went ahead with him on the 8 mile run. The ankle didn’t feel any better or worse after the run, will have to see how it feels tonight, keep an eye on it.
These little injuries signal the real start of marathon training. As in the past, it’ll mean walking a tightrope between maximum training and overtraining until tapering in May, falling off the rope at times, hoping not too far. Pushing the envelope, risk vs prudence. Hopefully experience will guide me again as in the past.
On the way home, ran into a couple of youngsters from a past training group. They’re training for this year’s Boston Marathon (my target for ‘17) and looks like we’ll be able to do some group runs together for our spring marathons.
