After taking it easy yesterday and after watching my son and his fellow senior teammates run their last xc race on the home course, felt good enough to do an abbreviated set of intervals with the club in our last official outdoor track workout of the year. 5 x 600 meters (1 and ½ laps) w/ 200 meter jog rest in between, the splits were 2:03, 2:00, 1:57, 1:53, 1:53, the last two paced by a fellow club runner. Felt some stiffness in the quads, naturally, from Sunday’s half, but felt okay generally. There’s a world of difference between recovering from a half marathon and a full marathon. Would, of course, never try doing a track workout so soon after a full.
Will take it easy again the next few days and race again this weekend – a couple of good races to choose from, maybe a 5k that’s a local favorite, to start fine tuning for the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving…
