form and stride

friday

The legs felt a little fresher after yesterday’s very light run, decide to work on form today on the track.  Recently saw a brief video of myself in a recent race and noticed that my stride seemed shorter than what I remembered in college.  I think it’s general running knowledge that the stride gets shorter as you age, but I really noticed it in the video.  So today was a form/stride workout,

15 x 200 meters (1/2 lap) of strides w/ 200 meter jog rest, the splits were (in seconds) 37, 36, 36, 35, 34, 35, 35, 35, 35, 36, 36, 36, 36, 37, 36

The goal was to extend the strides and run fast, but not an all out sprint.  Fast, relaxed, and in control.  And that’s the way it felt…even in the heat.  Along with the warm up and cool down, 9 miles for the day.

Now getting pumped up for tomorrow night’s Stones concert down at the Bill’s stadium! Have a great weekend!
