the heart of winter

Mostly because of time constraints but partly to make it a little easier on the legs while sustaining the mileage, did the old ‘two a day’ today with two runs, 6 miles in the morning and 8 miles in the evening, to total 14 for the day.  The legs still felt it by the end of the second run.

A couple of sports related quotes are relevant for days like these: ‘the loneliness of the long distance runner’ and Yogi Berra’s ‘it gets late early out there.’  It’s the heart of winter, and it seems perpetually cold and dark while trying to get in the miles out there…
