Temps reached the upper teens and it felt downright balmy, especially with calm winds. The snow on the ground was at a perfect crispy crunchy density and made today’s 12 miles around the parkway and the park relatively easy on the joints.
The 6 miles in the park turned into an impromptu tempo run – the unscheduled pick up a part of an informal and fun off-season – and added to this week’s accomplishments. The first 2 mile loop of the tempo run was about a 6:30 minute mile pace, then picked up the pace some more to near 6 minute pace when a group of runners joined in on the fun for the next 4 miles – the running version of a pick up basketball game. They had game and helped me through a decent workout. A good way to pass time through these winter months.
