After sleeping through the part of yesterday that I had planned to run – that tired – made sure to get out today for a 16 miler with a 10 mile tempo run in the middle. The first faster paced run of the year, it was a full workout. It snowed again today, so the ground was covered with a few inches of soft snow that made the footing difficult, a little like running on soft sand. The tempo run felt like 6 minute mile pace in leg speed, but the ground covered was probably around 6:30-7 minute mile pace. The uneven footing and numerous snow banks to hurdle made it a cross country cross training session. It was a 16 mile full body workout and I am beat. But feeling nice and high from the endorphins popping around in my head, having some pizza, and anticipating a good night sleep.
