Felt tired most of the day, got myself to head out for a late afternoon 7 miler in the dark. It felt significantly colder than yesterday. To give the run some flavor, finished it off on Elmwood Ave, the neighborhood’s main strip. Love this time of the year; all the holiday lights are still up and it’s still festive. Lit up the run on an otherwise ordinary cold winter evening. Then again there’s no such thing as an ‘ordinary’ evening, as this eventually blissful run proved.
Really enjoying this off-season. Mentally still in it – I could race next week if I wanted to – but not having to monitor the runs as closely and to not have to plan the week as much probably is having a restful effect on the mind and allowing for awareness of things like the holiday lights.
