The mini-taper for Sunday’s half-a-marathon began today with a set of hard runs on one of my favorite trail workout routes – an approximately 600 meter hilly gravely trail that ends winding around a soccer field – in lovely Delaware Park. 6 of these averaging about 2 minutes each w/ 2 minutes jog rest. Very windy on a cool cloudy Fall day, just wonderful. Including the warm up and cool down, 6 miles in all. In my mini-taper, I’m thinking of and excited (and secretly envious of…or maybe not) for everyone who’s getting ready for Chicago this weekend…I can feel the anticipation.
