prepping for the mile, reminders


After a few early morning hours of some heavy lifting at work, 10 sluggish miles on park trails on a bright sunny morning.  Very little pep in these legs.  Reminded me of the long runs I used to do on tired legs while marathon training, and then reminded myself as I periodically do that the long term goal is to head back to the marathon in a couple of years.  But all this sub-marathon racing – all the way down to the mile – have been so much fun that a 26.2 mile race seems like a distant memory, until a run like this mornings.

Speaking of the mile, plan to do some speed work tomorrow, ideally on the track, in search of that next gear that I think the legs still may possess.
