10 miles in the park on a balmy windy 65 degree day including:
5 x 3 minutes at 5 minute mile pace/ 2 minute rest jog in between, continuously for about 23 minutes, twice around a hilly 1.8 mile loop. Working the sore legs hard uphill and using the downhills for leg speed. Warmed up to the park and cooled down back home.
Going against the wind felt like running in place, while with the wind had me flying. Felt tight and heavy for most of the workout, but got through it. Not pretty, but it can’t always be – workouts like this, where you grind it out, are a good prep for races, training you to get through rough patches. The warm sunny day was a nice treat on the cool down home, looking forward to an easy recovery run tomorrow on another warm spring day.
